- Start your Istanbul journey at its most iconic monument. Built in 537 AD, Hagia Sophia was the world's largest cathedral for nearly 1,000 years before becoming a mosque. - Just across from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque is named for the 20,000 Iznik blue tiles inside. Closed during prayer times (check schedule). - The spectacular palace of the Ottoman sultans for 400 years. Highlights include the Imperial Harem, Treasury (with the 86-carat Spoonmaker's Diamond), and breathtaking Bosphorus views from the terraces. - 17:30 · Grand Bazaar & Spice Bazaar
- The Grand Bazaar is one of the world's oldest and largest covered markets — over 4,000 shops across 61 covered streets. Get lost in it; that's part of the joy. Nearby, the Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar) is smaller and sells Turkish teas, spices, Turkish delight, and baklava. Closes around 7 PM.Allow 1.5 hours · Don't buy perfume or jewellery under pressure

- 16:30 · Istiklal Avenue & Galata Tower
- Istiklal Caddesi is Istanbul's main pedestrian boulevard — 1.4 km of cafes, restaurants, concept stores, art galleries, and street performers. - 20:00 · Evening: Beyoglu Dining & Bar Scene
- Beyoglu has Istanbul's best restaurant scene — from traditional meyhane (taverna) to modern Turkish fusion. The streets off Istiklal Ave are full of gems. End the night at a rooftop bar for Bosphorus views with a glass of Turkish raki.

Asian Side, Local Life & Hidden Gems
Cross to the Asian side of Istanbul — most tourists never make it here, but it's worth every minute.
- 09:30 · Ferry to Kadiköy (Asian Side)
- Take the 25-minute ferry from Eminönü (enjoy views of the old city and mosques from the deck). Kadiköy is Istanbul's hippest neighbourhood — live music bars, independent bookshops, amazing street food markets, and serious coffee culture. Walk through the Kadiköy covered market and try everything: midye dolma (stuffed mussels), kokoreç, and fresh börek.Ferry from Eminönü: ~$1 · Allow 2.5 hours
- 12:30 · Optional: Princes' Islands (Buyukada)
- A 90-minute ferry ride from Kadiköy takes you to the car-free Princes' Islands. The largest island, Büyükada, has Victorian wooden mansions, cafes, and horse-drawn carriages. - Istanbul's highest point on the Asian side. On a clear day you can see the entire city, both Bosphorus bridges, the Sea of Marmara, and even the Princes' Islands. The new Istanbul Grand Mosque (Camlica Mosque) here is also spectacular.
- 17:00 · Last-Minute Shopping: Arasta Bazaar
- Less crowded and less touristy than the Grand Bazaar, the Arasta Bazaar (behind the Blue Mosque) has quality Turkish ceramics, carpets, leather, and jewellery at more honest prices. A far better place to buy gifts.
