About this tour
Pamukkale is too far from Istanbul to drive there and back in a day, so this trip flies: a morning flight to Denizli, a full day on the ground and an evening flight home. Your guide meets you at the airport and drives you up to Hierapolis, the Roman spa city built on top of the hill, before you walk barefoot down the white travertine terraces that gave Pamukkale — "cotton castle" — its name. There is time to swim among fallen marble columns in the Antique Pool, to have lunch in the village below and to take a last look over the terraces before the drive back to the airport. In Istanbul, a private vehicle takes you to the airport in the morning and home at night. Staying on the Aegean or in Antalya instead? We can plan Pamukkale from there by road.

The terraces are for walking; the pools are shallow and some are closed to protect them. The Antique Pool is the place to swim and has its own ticket.
Do I really walk barefoot?
Yes — shoes are not allowed on the travertines, to protect the surface. The rock is smooth but can be slippery where water runs.
