Uzungöl sits at about 1,100 metres in the Çaykara highlands, a long lake framed by spruce forest, wooden chalets and a mosque on its shore. The drive from Trabzon follows the Black Sea coast to Of and turns inland up the Solaklı valley, with tea gardens and streams along the way. At the lake there is time to walk the shore path, drive up to the viewing terrace above the village and have a trout lunch at one of the lakeside restaurants.
