Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swim 2026

The Samsung Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swim is expected to take place on August 23, 2026. Organised by the Turkish National Olympic Committee, it is the only race in the world where you swim from one continent (Asia) to another (Europe). The route runs roughly 6.5 km down the Bosphorus, from Kanlıca on the Asian side to Kuruçeşme on the European side, with the strait closed to maritime traffic during the event. Registration opens months in advance through the Turkish National Olympic Committee and typically fills fast, with thousands of swimmers from dozens of countries. There are separate national and international quotas. On race morning, swimmers are transported by boat to the Kanlıca start on the Asian side, then swim across to the Kuruçeşme finish on the European side.
